RHMF is deeply honored to receive the Gari Melchers Medal for community service in the arts. This award, presented annually by the Artists’ Fellowship, recognizes an organization that has materially advanced the profession of the fine arts, and we are truly grateful for this distinction.
We are especially proud that Susan Hort, Founding Board Member and Treasurer of RHMF, accepted the award on our behalf at a beautiful and artful award ceremony held at the Players Club.

Founded in 1995, RHMF was created to carry forward Rema Hort Mann’s legacy—supporting artists at critical moments in their lives and careers. Over the past 30 years, we have provided nearly $9 million in direct support through artist grants, community-based programs, and our Peter Hort Quality of Life Cancer Support Grants, which offer vital resources to patients undergoing treatment, ensuring they are not alone during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
We are especially proud to stand alongside the Artists’ Fellowship, the oldest art charity in the United States, whose mission so closely aligns with our own. This past year, both of our organizations responded to urgent need by supporting artists impacted by the Los Angeles fires, demonstrating the power of collective action in times of crisis.

It is also a privilege to be recognized among such an esteemed group of honorees, including Sharon Sprung, recipient of the Wende Caporale-Greene 2026 Medal.
A heartfelt thank you to Elliot Arkin, Artists’ Fellowship Board Member and a dear friend of RHMF for his generous nomination and enduring support.
We extend our sincere thanks as well to Linda Ganjian, Molly Rogers, and Artists’ Fellowship Board President Jessica Daryl, along with the entire Artists’ Fellowship leadership, for this meaningful recognition.
We are truly grateful for this recognition and for the community that makes this work possible.
